چکیده
Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis and its end product cortisol have been extensively investigated in patients with depressive disorders for many years. Recently, salivary alpha-amylase (sAA) had emerged as a new biomarker non-invasive more convenience protocol measuring sympathetic activity which were also associated depression. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) is antidepressant drug used to treat The aim of this study was determine whether decrease sAA levels could be observed subjects depression who treated by fluoxetine. total 25 depressed 10 healthy controls. examined before therapy, after 2, 4 6 weeks fluoxetine administration using portable cocorometer. Salivary Elisa method. therapeutic effect assessed Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS). Results: level significantly decreased (p<0.001) followed at least 50% reduction HDRS scores administration. Levels higher the group than control. Conclusions: Measurement can potential response addition cortisol.

Salivary alpha amylase and salivary cortisol response to fluid consumption in exercising athletes
The objective of the study was to examine salivary biomarker response to fluid consumption in exercising athletes. Exercise induces stress on the body and salivary alpha amylase (sAA) and salivary cortisol are useful biomarkers for activity in the sympathoadrenal medullary system and the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis which are involved in the stress response. Fifteen college students were...

The aim of this study was to assess the stress-related responses and the coach's capability to match perceived efforts of youth athletes during a taekwondo championship.Using a cross-sectional study design, salivary cortisol (sC) and alpha-amylase (sAA) were measured in 6 males and 3 females young (11.0 ± 0.9 years) athletes at awakening, 5 minutes before, and 1 minute and 30 minutes after offi...
متن کاملEffect of Massage on Salivary Cortisol Level in Preterm Neonates
Background: Stress in preterm neonates is associated with morbidity and mortality. Preterm newborns who are in need of special care are at risk of experiencing stress because of separation from the mother, ambient noises, lighting intensity, and medical procedures. Massage is believed to reduce stress through touch stimulation, and the cortisol is one of the indicators of the stress response. T...
متن کاملChronic stress, salivary cortisol, and alpha-amylase in children with asthma and healthy children.
The present study examined whether chronic stress is related to daily life levels of salivary alpha-amylase (sAA), a marker for sympathetic activity, and cortisol in healthy children versus children with asthma. Children's sAA and cortisol levels were measured repeatedly over 2 days. Chronic stress measures included interviews with children about chronic home life stress and interviews with par...
متن کاملMeasurements of Salivary Alpha Amylase and Salivary Cortisol in Hominoid Primates Reveal Within-Species Consistency and Between-Species Differences
Salivary alpha amylase (sAA) is the most abundant enzyme in saliva. Studies in humans found variation in enzymatic activity of sAA across populations that could be linked to the copy number of loci for salivary amylase (AMY1), which was seen as an adaptive response to the intake of dietary starch. In addition to diet dependent variation, differences in sAA activity have been related to social s...
